Challenges:
Our client contracted to perform a gangway connection design assessment on a vessel modification project. Facing capacity gaps in the areas of structural design and engineering, plus risk of impact to the overall schedule, they turned to SWAX for cost effective support in the project delivery.
Scope:
The scope of work for the design and engineering of the walk to work gangway connection is as follows:
- Verification of the local ship structure for the gangway loads to ensure it is within able to receive an Amplemann/Uptime gangway.
- Design of the bumper connection and landing platform connection to deck.
- Design of a closure panel for half the ship shell opening below deck 7.
- Perform the FE modelling and checks using ANSYS Mechanical.
